Furniture for the office is part of the total work environment that creates an ambiance for your workplace.  What is furniture?  It is basically a term that describes objects that are movable and made to support various activates of people such as sleeping, preparing food, sitting, and working.

Furniture has enjoyed a long history, dating back to the Neolithic period – from 3100–2500, where stone furniture has been found.  Probably not the most mobile, but it was furniture!

There are many styles of furniture to choose form.  Their themes are based on history, geography and culture.

Some of these styles include Classical, which stems from about 2550 BC to 80 AD. These pieces tend to be highly decorative and inlaid with precious metals, stones, and include detailed pictures and designs.

Some people prefer the style of Early modern European furniture.

This style draws its features from European Middle Ages.  Much of the furniture was made from heavy, oak, and was large and heavy.  This style also encompasses designs such as Baroque, which is characterized by opulent, detailed dramatic designs, infused with scrolling and vegetal ornamentation.

A design style from a more recent time is Art Nouveau, which came about in the late 1800s to early 1900s and its forms are inspired by natural items forms and structures.  Much if the designs are taken from plants, flowers, birds, as well as natural landscape forms and curved lines. The idea is furniture that harmonizes with the natural environment.

Asian style furniture is also widely diverse design that stems from a rich history of many countries and use of materials.    Designs from China, Pakistan, Japan and Indonesia are the best-known.

Early American Style

The early American design style comes from North American settlers and is borne out of necessity.  Pieces tend to be made of hardwood, some of fruit of nut-bearing trees such as walnut and cherry, and often simple and functional, with little decoration.

The Modern style of design was developed in the first three quarters of the 20th century.  Post World War II design ideologies such as Art Deco and Bauhaus, and is represented by very little or no decorative pictures or inlay, but sparse, simple style with function and accessibility as the theme.  Gone was the ornamental detailing of the traditional European styling, and instead was a bearing simplicity of geometry.

Eco Design is based on the production of furniture that uses less and less resources and has less environmental impact than non-eco-design furniture.  For example, many pieces are made with
